Crazy Town vocalist Shifty Shellshock has passed away at the age of 49
Crazy Town lead singer Shifty Shellshock – whose real name is Seth Binzer – has passed away at the age of 49.
The news was first confirmed by Newsweek that the vocalist was found dead in his home in Los Angeles, citing the death report on the LA medical examiner. No cause of death has been given.
Seth founded Crazy Town in 1995, and the group found worldwide fame by the turn of the century, thanks to their megahit Butterfly, which hit Number 1 on the U.S. Billboard charts and became a staple of music television and rock clubs across the globe.
The band would go on hiatus following their second album Darkhorse in 2003, but reformed in 2007 and released their third album The Brimstone Sluggers in 2015.
Away from music, Seth struggled with addiction at various points in his life, even appearing on U.S. reality TV shows Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.
On April 28, he posted about his sobriety on Instagram, sharing, "I’m a lover than a fighter …but the one I need to love more Instead of fight with is myself .. mr shifty true Love # Sober alive and grateful."
There has yet been no public comment from Crazy Town.
Kerrang! sends our deepest condolences to Seth's family, bandmates and friends.
