Amen frontman Casey Chaos has died
His label and former bandmates announced the news earlier today
In a new interview, Slipknot's Clown says the band will release the 11 songs they wrote while recording All Hope Is Gone.
Given the insane fanfare surrounding this month's release of their much-anticipated new album, the idea of another Slipknot album coming out anytime soon might seem like too much for some fans. After all, We Are Not Your Kind has already reached the top of the charts both in America and in the UK (marking the first time the band has reached that spot since 2001's Iowa). But in a recent interview, Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan has announced that the 11-song album the band recorded during sessions for 2008's All Hope Is Gone will see the light of day sooner than later.
Speaking to Loudwire, Clown said, "We have a whole other album that four of us wrote when we did All Hope Is Gone. We have 11 songs that we’re gonna release sometime in this album cycle. But it’s never been about just getting it out. It needs to be out when it’s right and by coming out during this album cycle people will even understand more what we’re doing on this album and what first led to it.”

In an exclusive interview with Kerrang! last year, Clown discussed the process of writing those 11 songs, saying, "The truth is: while we were making that album, Jim and I -- who were the only two out of all nine original members who came to the studio -- were there every day, from the beginning to the end...And then Corey and Sid became a part of it, and all four of us became a part of it -- it wasn’t just any one person’s. It became ours. And because of that, we played it for a lot of people, and we said, ‘What do you think?’ And these people would always say, ‘It’s not Slipknot.’
"They felt it was something different. So because of that, not to confuse Slipknot or All Hope Is Gone, or Paul Gray passing, or us separating with Joey, why push this down anybody?"
When asked if he thought the release of this album would be cathartic experince, Clown said, "Yes. We’ve been wanting to get this out since the first year [it was made], but finally the stars lined up. Everything has happened for a reason, and it just feels like a celebration. It doesn’t need a label -- we own it. It’s not on Roadrunner, it’s not on a label. It’s ours."
"I don’t need tour dates from this," he concludes. "I don’t need anything. It feels fantastic to be able to let it out, and I think everyone is gonna really enjoy it. My family loves it, and the people who have heard it love it."
When exactly the band will drop these tracks isn't clear, but given their habit of surprising fans with sporadic releases -- such as All Out Life coming out on Halloween last year -- fans should be ready to hear the extra All Hope Is Gone tracks at any moment.
