Late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and daughter Toni recorded a cover of Prince and Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U when she was 12, which Toni shared on Father's Day 2018. Now, 15-year-old Toni is donating $20,000 of the proceeds from that track to the International Rescue Committee, a humanitarian organization that provides support to refugees.

Toni posted a photo of herself as a toddler with her dad to Instagram today with a heartfelt caption.

“Nothing compares to you daddy…” she wrote. “I will keep the promise and always speak out for those who do not have a voice. Today I’m donating $20,000 from the proceeds of our cover of Nothing Compares 2 U to the IRC.”

“I’m proud and honored to continue your legacy,” she added. “I love you. I miss you.”

Toni originally announced the donation on World Refugee Day (June 20) 2018.

“I love you and miss you so much,” she wrote in the video description. “You were the best father anyone could ask for. Our relationship was so special, and you were always there for me. You gave me courage when I didn’t have any. You believed in me when I didn’t. I miss your love everyday. Recording this song with you was a special and amazing experience I wish I could repeat 100 times over and I know you would too. Happy Father’s Day daddy, nothing compares to you.”

Chris had also donated the proceeds from his last song, The Promise -- the end-credits song for the 2016 film of the same name, a historical drama about the Armenian genocide -- to the IRC.

Toni also donated the proceeds from her song Far Away Places, which her father produced and she recorded at the age of 12, to the New York Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. The song was also included in a short film of the same name.

“It’s bittersweet but I’m excited I can share it with you all,” she said in an Instagram post. “It’s very special to me. I wrote it for a short film about a very important subject when I was 12 years old with my dad producing it. I hope you love it. All proceeds will be donated to @thenyspcc in honor of my dad.”

Toni’s parents founded the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation to help at-risk youth. In April 2018, Vicky was appointed to the the Children's Council of the NYSPCC.
