Cannibal Corpse And Trivium Singers Posts Photos Of Riding Out Hurricane Irma

K!’s thoughts, of course, are with all of those having to deal with the destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Irma, right across the affected area. In Florida, where Irma made landfall on Sunday (September 10), millions of people either had to hunker down and hope for the best, or evacuate major metropolitan areas in unprecedented numbers. Across the Caribbean, island communities have been utterly devastated, and lives sent into turmoil. Some have even been lost, and homes will never be the same again. It’s a truly historical storm, and one that will last long in the memories of those impacted.

In Tampa, Florida, Cannibal Corpse frontman George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher took his family to their local elementary school, which offered greater protection against the incredible winds and threat of floodwater. He posted a photo of his situation on Instagram, yesterday (September 11), adding: “Stay safe everyone in Florida.” He signed off as “The Thumb”, a nickname he’s acquired on account of, apparently, resembling a human thumb. I mean, whatever sticks.

Prior to taking refuge, the frontman posted a rather lighter-hearted photo.

If you can’t laugh, I suppose. Trivium frontman Matt Heafy also decided to stay put rather than leave town, boarding up his home in Orlando and claiming that he could live just fine off cereal.

Heafy has since set about clearing up, with Orlando being spared the full impact of Irma.
