Hüsker Dü Founder Grant Hart Dead At 56

Grant Hart, a founding member of hugely influential Minnesota outfit Hüsker Dü, has died, aged 56.

There’s no formal word from the band, but the official Hüsker Dü Facebook page has posted a caption-free photo of Hart, whose gaunt appearance at recent shows has been commented on, and Variety has posted that he has, indeed, passed away. 

Music critics and journalists have been posting about his passing on social media.

Hart’s songwriting, alongside band colleagues Bob Mould and Greg Norton, was a foundational element of today’s alternative rock landscape. Enjoy some classic Hüsker Dü in the shape of the trio’s 1985 hit Makes No Sense At All, and their evergreen 1984 LP, Zen Arcade.

Grant Hart, man. Fuck. In addition to his work with Hüsker Dü, Hart recorded two full albums with Nova Mob, and four solo LPs. His most recent, 2013's The Argument, was released through Domino - whose publishing arm also posted in reaction to sad tragic news.
