blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is auctioning off a rare Banksy painting for up to £5million
With an estimated value between £3-5million, blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is parting ways with his beloved Crude Oil (Vettriano) painting by Banksy.
They gave a reason for the move and announced who's playing instead.
blink-182 have cancelled a number of upcoming shows, including their headlining set at Riot Fest Chicago and their State Champs / Seaway / American Authors-supported tour.
In a statement, the band cite Travis Barker's medical issues – he has not been cleared by his doctor for the upcoming dates, unfortunately.
“The past few months have just sucked as I have been sidelined just waiting for my doctors to clear me so I could get back on the road and perform with my band,” says Travis. “Unfortunately, the risks associated with drumming are still too great. I am doing everything I need to do so I can get back on the road as soon as possible. I want to thank my fans, family, friends and bandmates for all the love and support.”
Weezer, Run The Jewels and Taking Back Sunday are playing in place of blink at Riot Fest. They announced plans to return to Riot Fest in 2019 for the festival’s 15-year anniversary. The band will also not be performing at the Surf Ranch Pros World Surf League September 8, with Social Distortion playing instead.
