Speaking on the Danny Wimmer Presents Twitch channel last week, frontman M. Shadows explained of NFTs and what he hopes to do with them in relation to the band (transcribed by Kerrang!): “I’ve been trying to introduce the NFT play to our fans, kinda slowly. We released an NFT with some unreleased music a few months ago, but we gave it out for free so people can get used to getting online. And the interesting thing about it is, there’s different camps that this all goes in to, but they’re almost like clubs of people. NFT grants you access into certain things, so what I want to eventually create – and we’re gonna create very soon – is a token that allows you to get no line into shows, free merchandise, free tickets for life, meet-and-greets whenever you want at the live setting. So all these attributes and traits are going to equal certain real-world utility.
“No bands have really caught on yet about how important NFTs, non-fungible tokens, can be to the whole thing that we do. Imagine owning your favourite band’s NFT and you have access to all these things you never had before, simply by having the token on your phone.”
