A couple of weeks after announcing their first European festival shows for next summer, it looks like Green Day might possibly be heading to Donington Park – for the first time ever – in 2025.

As spotted by planetradio.co.uk, yesterday (September 22) Download posted about Early Bird tickets for next year. Seems pretty standard, right? However, not only was there an accompanying photo of the festival’s main stage with – of all colours – green fireworks, but it was captioned: “Summer is officially over. Wake us up when it’s June.” Which has got to be a reference to the band’s huge American Idiot single Wake Me Up When September Ends, surely?!

Add both of these things to the fact that Billie Joe and co. will be in Germany between June 20 – 22, which is just one week after Download from June 13 – 15, and the signs are looking very promising indeed.

Alternatively, of course, they could go for Glastonbury instead – and apparently they’re odds-on favourites to headline Worthy Farm, according to leading bookmaker Coral. Glasto will take place from June 25 – 29, the week after Green Day’s Hurricane and Southside festival shows. Hmmmmm…

In our live review of Green Day’s phenomenal Saviors Tour in Manchester recently, we said that it was “ultimately one of the best tours Green Day have ever put on”, and that “what’s perhaps even more exciting is the undeniable enthusiasm from the band throughout. Though The Saviors Tour is predominantly a look back at Green Day’s outstanding achievements ’til now, you can’t help but feel that, based on tonight, they have even more left to give.”
