Kerrang! can exclusively reveal that Belgian post-metal innovators Amenra are supporting The Sisters Of Mercy at their two London shows this month, having been hand-picked by the band themselves.
"When I was a kid, my aunt used to listen to them shitloads," says Amenra vocalist Colin H. van Eeckhout.
"I think around that time (1987 Sisters Of Mercy album) Floodland got released and I listened to it over and over. [I remember] thinking they weren’t from this world. The drum machines, bass-lines... the drive of it all.
"I grew to love their sense of identity, community, the aesthetics, and how the band was a complete work of art. I guess since then I have been attracted to the darker side of things. This to me feels like coming full circle – a place where past and future meet."
