The original shock-rocker Alice Cooper is returning to the UK this October.
The Ol' Black Eyes Is Back tour sees Alice hit up seven cities including London, Manchester and (for the first time in his career) Aberdeen.
"The very first time we ever played Scotland, I felt like I was in Detroit, because it was a bunch of long-haired kids in leather jackets drinking and fighting, and if you were in the least bit not rock'n'roll, they’d let you know," Alice tells Kerrang!. "These kids are rock'n'roll. They work in the factories. They are not kidding – they want their rock hard. The very first time we played Glasgow, I looked out on the crowd and thought, ‘Huh… we’re in Detroit!’ So I love their high-energy audiences.
"I’ve always found the UK audience to be some of our higher-energy audiences," he continues. "At Wembley, you’re told to expect a very conservative audience… but we never get that. Wembley has always been a high-energy audience for us. And they want that from us. They don’t want an artsy show, they want something that’s going to knock ‘em on their butts."
Alice Cooper will be joined onstage by Nita Strauss, Chuck Garric, Ryan Roxie, Tommy Henriksen and Glen Sobel. The Stranglers and MC50 will be providing support to the shock master..
"The great thing about this [tour] is that it’s a brand new show. We did our last show for two years. And it’s in that embryonic stage where the most exciting part is putting it all together and seeing what we get out of it. We have all the elements, all the ingredients, and now we’re picking the songs to go where, and see how they flow. That’s maybe the most fun part for us."
2019 marks the 50th anniversary since Alice Cooper released his debut album, Pretties For You. We cannot wait to see what theatrical bloodshed he comes up with this time. Guillotines at the ready!
Tickets go on sale Friday February 22 at 10am.
