Aerosmith legend Joe Perry was hospitalised over the weekend, following a reported collapse backstage after a gig.
The guitarist surprised fans at a Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night with a performance of Walk This Way, but just 40 minutes later, Joe collapsed in his dressing room, and was seen by paramedics immediately. He was then taken to hospital and is now in a stable condition.
“Following a guest performance during Billy Joel’s show last night at Madison Square Garden, Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital. This morning, Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive”, a representative confirmed.
The statement also noted that Joe is "expected to return to the road later this month".
While we await more information, here's the musician's fantastic performance with Billy Joel from the night.
Kerrang! would like to send our best wishes to Joe at this time.
