Watch Tool's Album Release Show At Burning Man, Next To A Giant Dragon
Tool and Burning Man, together at last
Burning Man is a crazy place: imagine the the hippy-est parts of Glastonbury colliding with Mad Max: Fury Road in the middle of a shanty town and you're about halfway there. It's a place that celebrates the weird and wonderful sides of life and all artistic endeavours, from cyberpunk sculptures to mind-bending music, so it makes sense that the Nevada Desert festival held a special release party of Tool's new album Fear Inoculum.
Hosted by Alex Grey, the man who designed the artwork for the past three Tool albums, Fear Inoculum was played through in its entirety from a firebreathing Abraxas dragon. Because why not, eh?
“I feel so grateful to be at freest place on Earth, to celebrate the opening of one of greatest bands in the world," said Alex. "This is one of my favourite Tool albums and I’ve only heard it a few times, so I hope that it will grow on you."

He adds: “This is the perfect launching pad for a way that I can share the love that is so extraordinary between these band members. I feel so blessed and grateful. Thank you to the men of Tool and all their fans. Much love.”

Tool released their long-awaited fifth studio album Fear Inoculum last week. Vocalist Maynard James Keenan recently spoke about why it took the band thirteen long years to unveil the follow-up to 10,000 Days.
“You want it to be right and we’ve had some success in the past, and the fear of this thing coming out and not being accepted – the fear that it’s not as good as it can be – that can be detrimentally crippling," he said.
“Probably if I had to ‘psychology 101’ [it], I would have to say ‘Well yeah, that’s why it would take 13 years to write something, because you’re paranoid that it’s not gonna be the best that it can be.’ Then you second-guess every single step that you make, when it was probably good enough – I shouldn’t say good enough – it was fantastic eight years ago."
Tool head out on tour this October.
