Watch The Darkness’ fantastic, festive performance of Don’t Let The Bells End
The Darkness were joined by a 12-piece choir at BBC Maida Vale Studios for a cracking performance of their festive banger, Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End).
Fresh from bringing out Ed Sheeran at their Roundhouse show, The Darkness have unveiled a fantastic new performance of their festive banger, Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End).
Some 20 years on from its release, the band headed to BBC Maida Vale Studios with a 12-piece choir to play the single on the Jo Whiley BBC Radio 2 show – and they really embraced the Christmas spirit, with sleigh bells and a sparkly red guitar for Justin Hawkins.
Speaking to Kerrang! a couple of years ago about his favourite Christmas tracks, the frontman said he thought Don’t Let The Bells End was in fact the best rock Christmas song ever.
“Well, this one is easy,” Justin answered. “And obvious. I should know, because I sang it! It had to be ours. This is a proper Christmas song and it was built as such from the foundations up. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios. It was produced by Bob Ezrin. It has Christmas bells on it. It has a children’s choir singing on it. It even has a robot in the video. Really, what more do you want?”
It’s hard to disagree with that! Watch the new performance below.
