Watch Slipknot Perform Solway Firth Live For The First Time
Last night, Slipknot gave Solway Firth its epic live debut.
We've been desperate to hear some brand-new Slipknot songs live since the 5K-rated We Are Not Your Kind was released last Friday, and now the Iowa titans have started trickling new music into their set – starting with the epic Solway Firth.
The Nine played the WANYK album closer sixth during their set at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL last night (August 11) – sandwiched comfortably in between Before I Forget and The Heretic Anthem. Unsurprisingly, it looks like it's absolutely killer live, kicking off with Corey Taylor's English-inspired accent in the single's haunting intro, before it properly blasts off with a whole load of pyro. Incredible.
Talking Kerrang! through every song on We Are Not Your Kind, guitarist Jim Root enthused of Solway Firth: “I love this song, because it has all these different elements. It’s got the ambient, airy guitars, and it’s got moody drums, but it also has a thrash metal riff. I feel really lucky because I’m able to bring these other influences through that aren’t really metal at all. It’s important to me to write things that are obscure enough that you’d never heard anything like it before, but which have a familiarity to them. If I compose something, and then I hear people whistling it an hour later, that’s a step in that direction.”
