Watch Halsey’s spot-on recreation of Evanescence’s Fallen album cover
See Halsey’s unbelievable tribute to her “OG dark rock queen” Amy Lee, for this month’s The Great Impersonator album.
In the run-up to this month’s fifth album The Great Impersonator, Halsey has been unveiling some impersonations (obviously) of artists who have inspired her for the record. And recent track Lonely Is The Muse is by far our favourite one yet.
Halsey has shared that the August single was influenced by their “OG dark rock queen” Amy Lee, and has recreated Evanescence’s iconic Fallen album cover in tribute. “I used some old school sfx makeup tricks on this one to make my face shape diff bc Amy has such beautiful youthful cheeks and I’m all bones,” Halsey writes on Twitter/X. “For all of them I really wanted to stick to practical fx. the obvious ones being face tape, contacts etc. But also some other lil secrets!” With this impersonation looking so damn good, Halsey also adds, “I might have to pierce my eyebrow fr after that one.” (Yes! Do it!)
Replying to a fan who thought that Lonely Is The Muse was actually inspired by Deftones’ My Own Summer (Shove It), Halsey clarified: “The songs aren’t influenced by just one artist! I pull from a lot of references. I’m just impersonating one of the references I feel is the most fun to recreate. Also I fear a Chino Moreno cosplay would not hit quite the same as this lolllll”
So far, Halsey has also impersonated Dolly Parton, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, Cher, David Bowie and Dolores O’Riordan. And just as the album title implies, they are indeed all great.
Happily, Amy Lee has seen this brilliant recreation, and commented on Halsey’s Instagram: “High compliment coming from you, my dear!” Awww!
