Watch Dave Grohl dedicate Foo Fighters’ My Hero to Steve Albini
“He left us much too soon. He’s touched all of your lives, I’m sure…” See Foo Fighters dedicate My Hero to the late Steve Albini.
Following the tragic loss of Steve Albini last week, Foo Fighters recently paid tribute to the punk rock legend while out on tour.
The rock titans dedicated a beautiful rendition of their classic single My Hero to Steve at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte on May 9 – with Dave Grohl performing a more stripped-back beginning, before the rest of the band came in to finish the song in emotional, powerful fashion.
“Tonight I’d like to dedicate this song to a friend that we lost the other day, who I’ve known a long, long time,” Dave – who of course famously worked with Steve on Nirvana’s In Utero – said on the night. “He left us much too soon. He’s touched all of your lives, I’m sure. I’m talking about Steve Albini.
“For those of you who know, you know. For those of you who don’t know, just remember that name: Steve Albini. Let’s sing this one for him.”
