twenty one pilots push back release of new album Clancy by one week

Tyler Joseph says twenty one pilots need “just a little more time” to get their all Clancy music videos ready for release day…

Tyler Joseph has just announced that twenty one pilots’ new album is going to be coming out a week later than originally announced.

In a new video update, the frontman explains that his ambitious idea to give every song on Clancy an accompanying music video means that the band just “need a little bit more time” – so therefore the record will be dropping on May 24 instead of May 17, so they can release them all in time.

“When I first told Josh [Dun, drummer] and Mark [Eshleman, collaborator] and everyone on our team that I wanted to do a music video for every song on the album Clancy that’s coming up, I told them it’s because I love these songs, and I believe in them enough to pretend to sing in front of a camera to each one,” he explains. “And that’s what we’re going to do, because that’s how I want to present this album.

“But because of that,” Tyler adds, “in order to accomplish that, we need a little bit more time – that’s why I’m making this video. We’re going to push the album back by one week, to May 24.”

After briefly stopping to play a couple of notes on the piano, he then finishes up: “Isn’t that exciting? Just a little more time. Just a little, little more time.”

In the immediate future, though, on Thursday, April 25 the band will drop new single Backslide, along with a video directed by Josh.
