The Smashing Pumpkins announce first-ever vinyl release for their 2001 greatest hits album (Rotten Apples)

The Smashing Pumpkins’ 2001 compilation – which is entitled (Rotten Apples) The Smashing Pumpkins Greatest Hits – will be arriving on vinyl this summer, for the first time ever.

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a first-time vinyl release for their 2001 (Rotten Apples) record.

The band’s epic greatest hits release documenting all the mega-hits that were dropped in the decade-plus period before their break-up will arrive on vinyl on August 9 via Capitol/UME, with a standard 180g black vinyl edition as well as ‘multiple collector-worthy, limited-edition 2LP colour variants’.

And hopefully, there’ll be even more Pumpkins stuff on the way after that, too. Earlier this month, we spoke to Billy Corgan about the band’s 2024 touring plans, and he revealed that he was looking forward to playing live – especially to take a break from all his recent studio work.

“We’ve been working on this album for, I think, almost two years now,” he said. “It’s very much a rock, guitar record, old school. I think the old-school fans will be happy, for once (laughs).”
