The Mars Volta announce huge 18-LP vinyl boxset
The Mars Volta's La Realidad De Los Sueños boxset contains newly remastered versions of all of the band's EPs and albums to date.
Experimental El Paso rockers The Mars Volta have unveiled details of an absolutely colossal 18-LP vinyl boxset, La Realidad De Los Sueños (meaning The Reality Of Dreams).
The career-spanning release (which is due out on April 23 and can be pre-ordered now) will consist of newly remastered versions of all of the band's EPs and albums to date, as well as Landscape Tantrums – the original unfinished recordings of De-Loused in the Comatorium. "It is the right time to open these recordings up to the public," says Omar Rodríguez-López of sharing this work in particular. "As a work of art in its own right, this set also needs to be seen as the end of a story.”

Chris von Rautenkranz, who remastered this huge wealth of Mars Volta material for vinyl, enthuses: "We have taken care to give the sound more space. To make it sound more lively and organic than the original, which was mastered for digital formats."
Included in this massive La Realidad De Los Sueños are: Tremulant, De-Loused In The Comatorium, Frances The Mute, Amputechture, The Bedlam In Goliath, Octahedron and Noctourniquet, plus Landscape Tantrums (unreleased material from the De-Loused In The Comatorium Sessions) and A Plague Upon Your Hissing Children and Eunuch Provocateur (the unreleased versions from the De-Loused In The Comatorium session). On top of that, it'll also feature two pins, and a book of behind-the-scenes photography. Phew.
