The Get Up Kids Announce Winter U.S. Tour

The Get Up Kids will hit the road in the States this November, with Kevin Devine and the Whiffs in tow.

Emo pioneers The Get Up Kids are heading out on tour in America this winter. The band has announced a U.S. tour starting in November, with Kevin Devine and The Whiffs opening for them on the first handful of shows.

While discussing their legacy with to Kerrang! earlier this year, members of the Get Up Kids said that they still feel the same heavy emotions they did in their early days, only through a more mature lens.

"I think those ‘emotional’ feelings that we get made fun of so much, I don’t think those go away when you get older," said vocalist/guitarist Matt Pryor, "but they become more well-rounded and less one-dimensional. We still feel very strongly about things, it’s just way more complicated than it as when you’re 19."

"People use being sincere as a gimmick," said lead guitarist Jim Suptic. "Which is kind of what emo turned into. But I think we were never anything but ourselves and I hope that comes across in everything that we’ve done."
