Disasterpieces: Slipknot to release self-titled, Iowa and Vol. 3 album jigsaw puzzles

Slipknot are set to release the cover art from their first three albums as jigsaw puzzles… because, clearly, Pieces = Shit (sorry, that was terrible).

The iconic artwork for their 1999 self-titled debut, 2001 follow-up Iowa and 2004's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) will all be released as 500-piece jigsaws in vinyl-sized boxes – "perfect to fit alongside your vinyl collection" – this May.

While the self-titled and Vol. 3 puzzles will feature the standard album artwork, Slipknot have chosen the original foil edition of Iowa to share in puzzle form: "Iowa was originally released in a foil sleeve and, to celebrate the album's 20-year anniversary, this has been faithfully recreated on this, the first foil effect 500-piece rock saw," they say.

In other ’Knot news, Shawn 'Clown' Crahan revealed recently that he's been "very creative" in lockdown.

"Everybody just needs to know I’m in my basement, with my stuff, doing my thing, with my friends, the way we want to," he teased. "There’s no-one telling us anything… And Corey Taylor has gotten almost all of it and partaken on almost on all of it, which has made it a completely other sort of weird thing. But I’m going on record right now that we could be talking about one song."

In March, Corey claimed that Slipknot were "expanding" on what they did on We Are Not Your Kind, and possibly even venturing into "conceptual” territories.

"Me and Clown have talked about something really, really cool, if we can pull it off," he said. "There’s a chance that it could be conceptual, if we can really do it right.

"I mean, the music is brilliant. It expands on what we did with We Are Not Your Kind – it kind of blossoms from there – but the great thing is, it’s got not only that, but it’s got everything that you would want from a Slipknot project; there’s the heavy stuff, there’s the dark stuff, there’s the melodic stuff, there’s the weird stuff. We have so many different flavours that we can play with that, now, at this point, it’s just us kind of mixing and matching and seeing what excites us.

"That’s all I can say for right now," Corey concluded. "But I can tell you that it’s really, really good, man. We’re entering a realm that we’ve never been, and that, to us, is exciting – especially after all of these years. We pride ourselves on always being able to try and top ourselves, and if we can pull this off, this may be the ultimate 'top ourselves’.”
