Slipknot Go Behind The Scenes On The Video For Unsainted

To mark the one year anniversary of their video for Unsainted – which spectacularly launched the entire We Are Not Your Kind era – Slipknot have released a behind-the-scenes look at the making of it.

The M. Shawn 'Clown' Crahan-directed clip kickstarted the Iowa titans' latest chapter as a band in May last year, and as you'll see from this peek behind the curtain, a hell of a lot of work went into the making of it. Then again, this is Slipknot we're talking about here, so would you really expect anything less than total attention to detail?

In a track-by-track interview about all things We Are Not Your Kind, guitarist Jim Root told Kerrang! about Unsainted and how it came about musically: “Before we even started writing this record, Clown had been like, ‘I want to get a choir.’ He was thinking in terms of a children’s choir, like a Pink Floyd – The Wall kind of thing, but we ended up getting a regular choir, and they took a version of the melody line from the original guitar line that started the demo song, which is a variation of the chorus riff. The choir did what they did, and to me it turned out to be pretty epic. I heard someone compare it to You Can’t Always Get What You Want by The Rolling Stones, and I think that’s a pretty ambitious comparison, but I’ll certainly take it (laughs).”
