The first trailer for A Minecraft Movie has just arrived.

Due to hit cinemas in April 2025, Warner Bros. Pictures have given fans a big initial look at their much-anticipated live-action adaptation of what is reportedly the best-selling videogame ever.

It’ll see metal dude Jason Momoa play Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison, who, along with three other ‘misfits’ – Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) – “find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination”.

That’s where they encounter Jack Black (who confirmed his involvement in the film back in January), playing expert crafter Steve. A synopsis continues that, “Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative… the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”

Really, this is the first we’ve seen of Jack since he announced that Tenacious D were taking a break in the summer.

In the wake of a backlash against Kyle Gass over a comment onstage in Australia about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, Jack said in a statement: “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.

“After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”
