See Green Day play a sped-up version of Good Riddance before a “big lightning storm” in St. Louis
Green Day’s gig in Missouri was cut slightly short due to an incoming storm – but Billie Joe Armstrong still managed to squeeze in a speedy version of set-closer Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life).
Green Day’s Saviors Tour was cut ever-so-slightly short in St. Louis, Missouri last night (August 15) due to a “big lightning storm” making its way over to the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.
The band had to chop Bobby Sox out of their usual 37-song setlist (only 36 songs on the night? Pfffft, slackers…) before the weather turned, but still managed to squeeze in customary set-closer Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) – albeit a sped-up version on the electric guitar.
“Okay you guys, that’s it!” announced frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, before this much quicker rendition of their iconic acoustic single. “We gotta get you out of here, because there’s a big lightning storm that’s coming right now… Thank you so much!”
Following a speedy first verse and chorus, he then told fans to “Keep walking” and motioned for people to leave the venue, before tearing through another quick second verse: ‘So take the photographs and still frames in your mind / Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time…’
Either way, it’s still a classic! Watch it below:
