See Frank Iero’s iconic ‘old’ transformation for last weekend’s When We Were Young
My Chemical Romance’s Frank Iero has shared some hilarious step-by-step photos from last weekend’s When We Were Young fest, which saw the band wearing make-up and prosthetics to appear like elderly versions of themselves.
Here’s a little bit of a peek behind the curtain for you: when we reported last Monday that My Chemical Romance and The All-American Rejects hilariously aged themselves for their respective When We Were Young performances, it was one of the most popular stories of the week.
Now, a week on, Frank Iero has carried on the fun by sharing a little more about what went into his band’s truly iconic elderly Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge look – including some brilliant step-by-step photos.
Taking to Instagram to thank artists @screaminmeemz, @lisette_santana and @miranda.jory for their work with the band, Frank wrote: “Your skill level and creativity blew me away, and took our vision to a place we could only dream of. Thank you for spending more time than anyone should ever have to working and staring at my face.” You can see how the whole thing came together, starting with a bald cap – which, says Lisette, was underneath “a bad emo toupee that would fall off while he played” – followed by some wrinkly skin, make-up, and of course a nice dose of classic emo eyeliner.
Artist @screaminmeemz shared that it took this team of artists “roughly 3 ½ – 4 hours” for Frank, Gerard Way and Ray Toro, while bassist Mikey Way was (hopefully more easily) turned into “a bloodied vampire amidst a trio of old geezers!”
Just amazing. Check out all the pics and details below:
