PVRIS have released the latest preview for their forthcomnig album, the aptly-titled EVERGREEN. The album's title-track finds singer/guitarist/main-brain Lyndsey Gunnulfsen reflecting on what art really means, and how that applies to her own music.
“If you search the definition of ‘evergreen,’ you will find words like: enduring, timeless, fresh, unlimited, and renewal,” sheexplains. “In our modern culture, where everything is online, algorithm-based, and instantaneous, it feels like timelessness, longevity and connection could someday become dying concepts. More than ever, PVRIS has, and always will be anti-formula, anti-virality, and anti-instant gratification.”
Speaking to Kerrang! for her cover feature last week, Lyndsey expanded on this idea when it came to the new album's artwork, featuring her own severed head.
“Metaphorically, you constantly kill off different versions of yourself,” she said. “It feels like facing yourself. I'm very self critical and always trying to grow – to me it represents taking ownership over yourself.”
EVERGREEN (the album) is out on July 14. PVRIS return to the UK with Fall Out Boy this autumn. Catch them at...
