Check out the first new PUP songs in over a year

Canadian punks PUP have dropped two banging new tracks. One's about a destructive dog…

It’s been a year and change since we last heard from PUP. Last October, they released the delightfully-named This Place Sucks Ass EP. Now the Canadian punks are back with two new tracks, Kill Something and Waiting – both of which are awesome, duh – and a U.S. tour announcement.

Kill Something is about Stefan Babcock’s dog Moose, who “loves to destroy his favourite things, and then feels sad that those things are destroyed”.

Meanwhile, Waiting – which features fellow Canadian punk Kathryn McCaughey of NOBRO – is basically the most PUP song that ever PUPped.

“Waiting came about by smashing the heaviest riff Nestor [Chumak] could write with the simplest, most uplifting chorus I could write, just to see what would happen,” says Stefan.

“The results were very quintessentially PUP, in that the song is a flurry of darkness and anger through the joyous lens of four guys just happy to be here, four guys who don’t take themselves seriously enough to make music that doesn’t feel like fun, regardless of the subject matter.”

The band have also announced a tour of the U.S. and Canada. Tickets will be available for pre-sale tomorrow courtesy of Spotify Fans First, as well as via a Seated fan club pre-sale, where $1 per pre-sale ticket will go towards the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

Fans in the U.S. and Canada can catch the below dates. The band return to the UK for 2000trees festival on July 6-7.
