Prince Daddy & The Hyena are the punks we all know and love in new video
Exclusive: The latest from Prince Daddy & The Hyena is a gauntlet of good times…
Unlike some of their peers, there's a good humor to Prince Daddy & The Hyena's raucous party-punk. The band's jangling, laugh-along songs have that fun-loving vibe that one wants from major-key loud music, but there's also that scope of emotion that drew everyone towards those weird, fun-loving friends who talked them down over the phone and taught them how to open a bottled beer with a lighter. That the Albany, New York-based quartet's new album Cosmic Thrill Seekers was inspired at least in part by an acid trip makes perfect sense -- you get the vibe that these guys are seeing the big picture, even if it took a little chemical nudge to do so.
The band's new video for the track Fuckin' A gets behind that large-hearted approach 100%. The video is a stylized compilation of tour footage, interspersed with video of the band playing a skate shop. The tour shots feel like excerpts from the lives of your best friends, while the live footage reminds you of all those cramped, formative shows where everyone knows the words to every song. It makes the viewer feel nostalgic for all the good times they've ever had, all at once.

According to vocalist Kory Gregory, “Our good friend Joey Tobin compiled a bunch of footage for us during our time in their neck of the woods in this past lil' tour we did. A lot of it is either us having fun at Disney, riding coasters, eating turkey legs and shit, or it's us playing at a skate shop we love called Programme with a bunch of close friends and confetti everywhere. The song is kind of about like 'seeing in color' again after a dark period of your life. So it sort of just made sense to put Joey's colorful and somewhat optimistic footage alongside the song.“
