Nine Inch Nails to score next year’s TRON: Ares film

“You’re going to get what you deserve”: Disney have recruited Nine Inch Nails for soundtrack duties on the 2025 conclusion to their TRON series…

Nine Inch Nails have announced that they’ll be scoring 2025’s TRON: Ares!

As well as hopefully working on a new record, plus film stuff, fashion, a music festival and even more, the duo are set to team up with Disney to soundtrack the follow-up to 2010’s TRON: Legacy.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross announced the project via social media, with a caption reading “You’re going to get what you deserve” (which is of course a lyric from Head Like A Hole) and a graphic featuring the TRON: Ares and NIN logos.

A brief synopsis for the movie – which is due out on October 10, 2025 – reads: “TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

Disney also announced this future NIN collab at their D23 Expo in California recently – check out that very cool unveiling below.

Back in April, Trent teased that doing these sorts of soundtracks away from NIN had “managed to make Nine Inch Nails feel way more exciting than it had been in the past few years. I’d kind of let it atrophy a bit in my mind for a variety of reasons.”

“I do feel excited about starting on the next record,” agreed Atticus. “I think we’re in a place now where we kind of have an idea.”
