Muse Announce Simulation Theory: The IMAX Experience
Muse's new film features half-live footage from their 2019 Simulation Theory tour, and half-conceptual storyline that "follows a team of scientists as they investigate the source of a paranormal anomaly appearing around the world".
Muse will be bringing their huge 2018 album Simulation Theory (and much more besides) to select IMAX cinemas across the world later this month, having just announced Muse – Simulation Theory: The IMAX Experience.
The Devon trio's new release is – in typical Muse fashion – set to feature a mind-blowing mixture of out-there ideas: it will consist of half-live footage from their 2019 global tour (which Kerrang! called a "sci-fi odyssey" when we saw it in London), and half-conceptual storyline that "follows a team of scientists as they investigate the source of a paranormal anomaly appearing around the world", according to a press release.
"The goal for Simulation Theory was to capture the scale of the electrifying live show and to expand upon its connection to the DNA of the world we built for the past three years in music videos for Muse," explains director Lance Drake. "In a strange turn, the film's alternate reality eerily started to mirror our own." Oooh…

Muse – Simulation Theory: The IMAX Experience will hit IMAX theatres from August 17, before being able to rent or buy from iTunes, Amazon and Google Play on August 21. Then, later this year, the band will also be releasing two deluxe audio and Blu-ray boxsets on December 11 – with some impressive bundles featuring goodies like exclusive vinyl, cassettes, a Marvel Simulation Theory comic book (yes, really) and even an embroidered Murph Moto Jacket. Badass.
