Metallica Share 2004 Set From The Madly In Anger With The World Tour

Watch Metallica hit Munich's huge Olympic Stadium on the touring cycle for 2003 album St. Anger.

Metallica's 2003 St. Anger album has been in the headlines a fair amount recently – first, producer Bob Rock defended the record's controversial snare drum sound, and then drummer Lars Ulrich later stated, "I stand behind it one hundred per cent." Now, the band are continuing to celebrate the LP, with this week's Metallica Mondays filmed on their Madly In Anger With The World 2004 tour.

The metal heroes were supported by Slipknot for the epic run, with this particular filmed date taken from Munich, Germany's huge Olympic Stadium. According to the band's website, it "represented the largest venue Metallica has performed at in Munich as a headliner", which is pretty damn cool.

As well as a truly stellar setlist, the quartet were joined onstage at the end of the show by Lars' son Myles. "Myles Ulrich, age 5 and change, joined us briefly for all the post-show shenanigans including the 'goodbyes' and the post-show line-up and looking way too comfortable up onstage!!" joked the drummer on Instagram.

If this isn't enough live awesomeness for you, Metallica recently announced their first gig of 2020 – which will be shown at multiple drive-ins across America and Canada.

"It’s been a crazy, hectic, thrilling and exciting time at Metallica HQ as the four of us have all been in the same room making music for the first time in almost a year!" the band say. "‘What’s going on?’ you ask? We’re recording a concert to appear at your local drive-in theater… that’s what!

"We’ll be the first rock band to be featured in the Encore Drive-In Nights series, with a full set screening August 29 at hundreds of drive-in and outdoor theaters across the United States and Canada. We’ve been rehearsing at HQ for a show that will be shot specially for the drive-ins at a location nearby later this week and then we’ll pass it off to our award winning production team to then be edited and mixed at the highest standards possible to be beamed into your cars from the big screen."

Pre-sale begins via Metallica’s Fifth Member fan club on August 12, while general sale kicks off on August 14. More info on Encore Drive-In Nights can be found at ticketmaster.com/encoredriveinnights.
