McKinley Dixon has announced details of his upcoming album Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?, and shared new single Run, Run, Run.
Following his appearance on Soul Glo’s 2022 album Diaspora Problems, Chicago rapper McKinley Dixon has announced a new record.
McKinley will be dropping Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!? on June 2 via City Slang Records, with excellent new single Run, Run, Run out now (watch the video below).
Musically McKinley has been inspired by everything from Mary J. Blige to OutKast, as well as the likes of My Chemical Romance and Panic! At The Disco: “Those groups also helped me with my sense of longing, since their music reflected a sense of longing,” he says of the latter two emo heroes.
Of Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?, the musician explains that, “I’m aiming for making my stories accessible, while also still keeping it to the heart of what I love.” He adds of the music contained within the album: “With this one, I thought, ‘What if I tried to keep that intensity and same denseness with shorter, catchier songs?’”
