Matt Skiba says he’s “truly grateful” for time with blink-182 in new statement
Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba has thanked blink-182 and all their fans for having him as frontman for the last seven years: “You were delicious!”
With Tom DeLonge once again rejoining his bandmates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker in blink-182, now-former frontman Matt Skiba has shared his gratitude for his time in the band.
The Alkaline Trio vocalist/guitarist stood in with blink for 2016’s California and 2019’s NINE albums, and says he’s “truly grateful” for the seven years that he was part of the band.
“CONGRATULATIONS to the homies Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker on their triumphant blink-182 return/reunion and the release of their new single today‼️‼️” Matt posted on Instagram. “I’m sure there’s a joke in here about releases and happy endings I’m missing but I am truly grateful for my time with blink and I am truly happy you guys are a band and a family again.
“THANKS TO THE BAND AND ALL THE BLINK FANS FOR HAVING ME,” he added. “You were delicious!”
Several days ago, Tom said his own thank you to Matt for “all that you have done to keep the band alive and thriving in my absence”.
“I think you are enormously talented (I still love to listen to your band to this day),” Tom said. “You have always been so kind to me, not only in the press, but also to others. I really noticed. Emotions between the three of us in blink have always been complicated, but Mark’s cancer really put things in perspective.
“But to be honest, the band would not even be here today if it were not for your ability to jump in and save the day. So from my heart to yours, thank you for being a member of our band.”
