Listen To Green Day's Cover Of Blondie's Dreaming

Green Day have covered Dreaming by Blondie, and paid tribute to their fans in the accompanying video.

We're all desperately missing live shows at the moment, and that includes the bands themselves – especially Green Day, who have released a video full of old tour footage to accompany their brand-new cover of Blondie's Dreaming.

"This isn’t a dream or a drill, our cover of Blondie's Dreaming is out everywhere now," the Oakland titans say. "This video's for all of you. We can't wait to see your faces when we're back out in the world."

The band obviously haven't been able to take their latest album Father Of All… out on the road properly yet, with the U.S. leg of their Hella Mega Tour featuring Fall Out Boy and Weezer now postponed until summer 2021.

As a temporary replacement, Green Day have instead thrown together some fantastic footage from their touring cycles for both 2016's Revolution Radio and 2012's ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! trilogy, with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's dog Lenny also starring in the video – looking out of the window wistfully and reminiscing over these tours (or just thinking about what's for dinner… we can't be sure).

Check it out below:

In early April, Billie Joe told Kerrang! that he’d written six new Green Day songs while in lockdown, revealing, “I’ve been writing a lot of music, and I had all these melodies in my head, so I wrote, like, six songs since all of this has been going on. I don’t know when I can get together with Mike [Dirnt, bass] and Tré [Cool, drums], but I told them to make sure that they’re quarantined for now, and then I hope down the road we can get back in the studio with [Father Of All… producer] Butch Walker.”

When asked what else he’s been up to, Billie Joe continued: “I’ve just been indoors like everyone else on the planet right now, waiting around to see what happens next! I’ve been going through The Office a lot, going through all of my punk and rock’n’roll documentaries, trying to read a little bit here and there, and hanging out with my dogs. [My wife] Adrienne and I have just been stuck in the house the whole time.

“I feel pretty lost in all of this,” he added. “I think a lot of people are trying to do the right thing and be with their families and friends as much as they can… When you have that separation, you realise that we take for granted some of the things that matter most to us.”
