Listen to Dream Nails’ grungy new single, Control

Ahead of their return to the stage as a three-piece next week, London punks Dream Nails have released a new single and video, the ’90s-sounding Control.
It's the band's first new music since the change, with bassist Mimi Jasson now on vocals. The song explores the dynamics of bad relationships, and how it's often not as easy as just breaking something off.
“Our new track is about understanding why people might stay in an unhealthy relationship for too long,” says Mimi. “The lyrics reflect ‘There’s good in bad and bad in the good.’ Things are never simple; we wanted that nuance to come across.”
Guitarist Anya Pearson adds, “Control is also about stepping into your power, finding the courage to leave someone trying to control you and mess with your head. It’s vulnerable, it’s brave, and it’s euphoric.”

The new song, recorded with Foo Fighters/Spice Girls producer Adrian Bushby ("We channelled a bit of spice into the track," says Mimi) marks the start of the band's new chapter proper. Looking at the change, they're optimistic about it all.
“As Dream Nails enters its third phase as a classic power trio, it’s the perfect time to share Control with the world,” says drummer Lucy Katz. “ Seeing [Mimi] take vocals in her stride is genuinely inspiring and is pushing our musicianship further than we ever thought we could go. We’ve found a new energy.”
The band play at The Grace in London on October 8, after which they'll be knuckling down to finish the new record, with Lucy adding, “We’re dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on our third LP right now and will be heading back to the studio shortly to lay our baby down.”
