"Let's go": Reading & Leeds confirm their 2021 festivals are happening
The Reading & Leeds team say that they "can't wait to get back to the fields this summer".
With the news that large live events could kick off in England again from June 21, Reading & Leeds have confirmed that currently their August festivals are going ahead.
News of the summer Bank Holiday weekender looking likely follows Slam Dunk pushing their May festival back to September, with the caveat that the rescheduling will hopefully "allow enough leeway should there be any delays to the current roadmap".
In the case of Reading & Leeds, their team simply writes, "Following the government's recent announcement, we can't wait to get back to the fields this summer. LET'S GO."

The Reading & Leeds line-up so far features six headliners: Stormzy, Catfish And The Bottlemen, Post Malone, Disclosure, Liam Gallagher and Queens Of The Stone Age. Elsewhere on the bill, the likes of Gallows, Nova Twins, Hot Milk, FEVER 333, Neck Deep and YUNGBLUD have all been confirmed to appear across the weekend.
Last year, festival boss Melvin Benn said of the planned 2021 event: "COVID has given us a year off, so the innovation for [2021] is testing – everybody will be tested. We’re also going to reproduce the main stage twice. What was the second stage is going to be elevated to an equal stage with the same presentation. What that really allows us to do is book six acts that are headliners.
"When we first took over Reading Festival in 1989, the idea that there would even be two stages of acts playing at the same time was innovative," he explained. "People were like, 'Two bands playing at once? You can’t do that, Melvin.’ We were like, 'Yeah we can, just watch.’ Now festivals have hundreds of stages at once.”
