KISS manager reveals band biopic has been picked up by Netflix

Longtime KISS manager Doc McGhee has confirmed that an official band biopic will be hitting Netflix next year.

In a new interview with The Rock Experience, Doc reveals that after many years of trying, they are finally beginning work on the movie. “It’s a biopic about the first four years of KISS,” he says. “We’re just starting it now. We’ve already sold it, it’s already done, we have a director.”

Its planned title is Shout It Out Loud (after the 1976 Destroyer track) and is reportedly going to be along the same lines as Mötley Crüe’s massively successfuly The Dirt, and 2010’s The Runaways.

In 2021, Deadline reported that Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning was set to direct the biopic, while Ole Sanders had written the script. It is not known yet who will star in the film, though Paul Stanley said that year that they were looking for actors “in their early 20s”.

“I don’t know a whole lot of actors in their early 20s,” he said. “When people get asked these kinds of questions, they’ll say, ‘Oh, Brad Pitt,’ or this one or that one. Well, those guys are in their 50s or 60s, so you’re talking about another generation of actors. And I’m the first to say I’m not up on a lot of them.”

Shout It Out Loud will presumably follow KISS’ final End Of The Road tour, which concludes later this year at Madison Square Garden.
