Jesus Piece’s drummer to play with Charli XCX on SNL following viral video

We've been huge fans of Jesus Piece for quite some time – and even invited them to play the first-ever U.S. K! Pit back in March 2019 – and now their incredible musicianship has catapulted drummer Luis Aponte onto a huuuuge stage this weekend.

The sticksman has announced that he'll be drumming for Charli XCX, who is the musical guest on this weekend's Saturday Night Live. According to Stereogum, Luis was invited by Charli's representatives after they found a live video uploaded this past October by Sunny Singh – aka prolific YouTuber hate5six – of the Jesus Piece drummer doing his thing at an all-dayer in a Pennsylvania VFW Hall.

"Holy FUCK this is insane," wrote Sunny on Twitter. "The drum cam I posted of Luis Aponte from Jesus Piece a few months ago caught so much momentum that Charli XCX's people saw it and invited him to drum on SNL with her.

"Luis deserves this opportunity so much. You're gonna kill it brother."

The band also addressed the awesome news, responding to Stereogum's tweet that Luis was given this opportunity "Thanks to grinding his ass off for years."

However it happened, this absolutely rules and we can't wait to watch the episode.
