Imminence announce new album The Black: “It’s angrier, more desperate, and unhinged”
Sweden metalcore crushers Imminence will be releasing their new album in April, and they promise that The Black is an “eat-your-heart-out, unapologetic testament” to who they are as a band.
Imminence have just announced details of their fifth album The Black, and they’re promising big things.
The Swedish quintet will be releasing the record – the follow-up to 2021’s Heaven In Hiding – on April 12, and they actually almost give it the self-titled treatment, as it apparently “speaks volumes about what Imminence is as a band”.
“Drawing influences across our discography mixed with our Scandinavian roots, you can hear elements from our entire history, yet fuelled by an insatiable hunger,” explains vocalist/violinist Eddie Berg. “The album is probably the most conceptual we’ve ever created, and I’ve never been more proud of a body of work before.
“Continuing on the path as previous releases, the lyrical concepts revolve around mental health and depression,” Eddie adds. “But there’s no holding back this time. It’s angrier, more desperate, and unhinged, soaking in fear and darkness. We’ve also allowed ourselves to let the album soar out into unexpected spaces, creating a musical journey with stark contrasts between light and darkness. It’s an eat-your-heart-out, unapologetic testament to what Imminence has become. This is The Black.”
