HIM’s Ville Valo releases new EP, Gothica Fennica Vol. 1
HIM vocalist Ville Valo has just dropped a new three-track EP, Gothica Fennica Vol. 1.
HIM frontman and all-round cool dude Ville Valo has released a new three-track EP from out of nowhere.
The record is titled Gothica Fennica Vol. 1 and has been released under the moniker VV. It features three tracks: Salute The Sanguine, Run Away From The Sun and Saturnine Saturnalia. There has been no word from Ville on what this means or what the new project entails, but it's pretty great to hear his gothic croon once more.
HIM split up in 2017, leaving Ville to pursue his Ville Valo & Agents solo project, releasing their debut album last year.
Speaking to Kerrang! following HIM's dissolution, Ville explained why the band decided to call it a day.
“We were tired of the same shit," he said. "When you’ve done it for a long time, at some point it doesn’t taste good anymore. We started working on some stuff, it didn’t sound good enough, and we didn’t get the teenage buzz you’re supposed get.”

He also discussed the future of his artistic and musical endeavours.
“I’ll be figuring out the emotions I’ll be going through after the HIM period is done. That’s how I experience life. I experience it through music, I’ll pick up the guitar and start writing and I’m sure some of the emotions that come out of this wild ride will come through. My life is not done yet. The HIM part is done, as it is now, the chapter is closed, but the book is still unfinished…”
