Here's Your First Look At The New Bill & Ted Movie

Bill S. Preston Esq., Ted "Theodore" Logan, and even Death return in the first photos from Bill & Ted Face The Music.

Few heavy metal characters have earned such a cult following as Bill and Ted, whose harebrained schemes and good-natured rockerdom influenced everyone from Wayne and Garth to Zakk and Brodie. In March of last year, it was announced that a third film in the franchise, Bill & Ted Face The Music, would be coming our way in 2020. Now, the first images from the movie have emerged, featuring Bill, Ted, their kids -- and even Death himself.

The photos come via EW, and show Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) in a time-traveling phone booth (at least we assume it travels through time), as well as the boys speaking the Death (William Sadler) and Kid Cudi as himself next to Bill and Ted's daughters (Ready Or Not's Samara Weaving and Atypical's Bridget Lundy-Paine, respectively).

Describing the plot of the film, franchise writer Chris Matheson says, "[Bill and Ted] were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality, and they’ve been working on it the whole time… Now an emissary from the future comes and says, ‘You’ve got to do it right now. We’ve got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end.’”

The characters of Bill's daughter Thea and Ted's daughter Billie (see what they did there?) are, meanwhile, sympathetic according to Matheson. “The daughters really love their dads’ music and want to help them."

Kid Cudi, meanwhile, appears to be taking over the role of George Carlin's Rufus -- but, as director Dean Parisot notes, he's just… himself. “He plays Kid Cudi,” says Dean. “He gets mysteriously thrown around through various times, because all time and space is coming unglued.”

Death, however, may not be so sympathetic, if Parisot is to be believed. “Death was in the band in the second film. Things didn’t go all that well. But I’ll leave it at that!”

Bill & Ted Face The Music is due to arrive August 21, 2020.
