Hayley Williams Just Broke A New Rock Chart Record
Paramore's Hayley Williams is the first woman ever to top the Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart both as a solo artist and with a band.
Just two weeks on from the release of her debut solo album Petals For Armor, and Hayley Williams has broken a record in the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart.
The musician has just become the first female ever to top the rock charts both as a solo artist and with a band. While Petals For Armor instantly debuted at Number One following its release, Hayley has also previously hit the top spot with Paramore three times: with 2009’s Brand New Eyes, 2013’s Paramore and 2017’s After Laughter.

Despite its success, before Petals For Armor was released Hayley revealed her nerves about going 'solo': “This is the first time that I am seeing my name everywhere, and it kind of gives me heebie-jeebies a little bit,” she told Rolling Stone. “My name doesn’t look like a name, to me, that you would see on a marquee. I also feel like Paramore is half, if not more, of who I am.”
She also revealed of the often dark lyrical subject matter that makes up the record, “I don’t think you can get to the good shit without digging through the bad first. It’s like you are trying to find the center of the Earth — how can you find that without cracking through limestone and heavy, hard things?”
