Halsey shares letter with fans: “As you may have guessed, I have written a new album”
Halsey has confirmed that there’s a new record on the way – and “before the chaos and confetti of big singles and album releases” – there’s a song dropping tomorrow, June 4…
As well as starring in this summer’s upcoming MaXXXine, Halsey has been busy working on a brand-new album.
And it’s seemingly almost launch-time, with the alt. superstar beginning an intriguing teasing process for the follow-up to 2021’s incredible, Nine Inch Nails-produced If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.
A mysterious website – formylasttrick.com – has just been discovered by fans, featuring various stickers and phrases (new song names, perhaps?!), some of which you can click on.
Currently, the most interesting one is a ticket stub that reads THE END, and if you tap it, there’s an old-fashioned letter, typed out by Halsey and dated July 1971.
“As you may have guessed, I have written a new album,” this letter confirms. “But I needed some time to figure out how to say what I needed to say. You see, I’ve been holding [REDACTED] and I need to let it out.
“There’s so much I am going to reveal on this record, but you need to know some of the story first. So before the chaos and confetti of big singles and album releases I just needed to tell you, my friend, why it all matters this time. I’m releasing a new song on June 4. It’s just for us. Let’s start at THE END.”
Last summer, Halsey shared of the writing process: “As of right now I’m approaching it kinda how I approached Manic. No strict genre parameters or anything. Just making what feels good and what hits home :) definitely some of my best songwriting. a lot of life has happened to me since I wrote IICHLIWP.”
