Green Day Release Surprise New Otis Big Guitar Mix EP

Listen to Green Day's new three-track EP, Otis Big Guitar Mix.

Green Day have been busy chaps while we've all been self-quarantining, and they're keeping the content coming with the release of a surprise new three-track EP, Otis Big Guitar Mix.

The release is compromised of three new versions of songs from the Oakland titans' 2012 ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! album trilogy, with the select tracks – Lazy Bones, Wild One and Oh Love – showcasing “big guitars in a way these tracks have never been heard before”.

With that in mind, the Otis Big Guitar Mix is a pretty perfect title; the 'Otis' part references frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's recording studio of the same name in Oakland, while the 'Big Guitar Mix' reflects the more grand-sounding musicality coming through in the new, updated songs.

The release of the Otis Big Guitar Mix EP follows Billie Joe’s announcement of No Fun Mondays, which will see him releasing new cover songs every week “until we’re let back out into the world”.

First came an awesome cover of Tommy James & The Shondells’ I Think We’re Alone Now, and then this past Monday he released a rendition of You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory by Johnny Thunders.
