Green Day receive award for reaching one billion streams in the UK
“Here’s to the next billion”: At the final night of The Saviors Tour in the UK, Green Day were presented with a very special BRIT Billion Award.
Green Day’s recent trip to the UK for The Saviors Tour has just been made even more special, with the band being presented with a huge award.
The trio – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool – were given a BRIT Billion trophy backstage at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday, July 29 to celebrate reaching one billion (obviously) UK streams.
They join fellow rock titans Queen and The Rolling Stones in receiving the honour, as well as the likes of Coldplay, Billie Eilish, ABBA and Mariah Carey.
As per the BRITs this is an award that recognises “an artist’s combined success across multiple projects”, and, “The one billion career total includes tracks an artist has appeared on either as the principal performer or as a featured artist, as credited by the Official Charts.”
Posting a photo with their very own BRIT Billion, Green Day shared: “One billion UK streams. Thank you to the BRITs for our BRIT Billion award + all of you for listening!!! Here’s to the next billion.”
Hear, hear!
