Green Day perform Nirvana, Ramones and more in New Year’s Eve Coverups set
Watch Green Day side-project The Coverups play Nirvana, Ramones, The Cure and much more at their tiny New Year’s Eve show in Hollywood.
From the UK and European leg of the Hella Mega Tour finally happening, to recording a brand-new album, 2022 was another massive year for Green Day. And the band celebrated in style on New Year’s Eve, performing an awesome small show with their side-project The Coverups.
Streamed live online via Green Day’s Instagram, the band hit Hollywood’s Viper Room for a two-set, 23-song covers show to kickstart their 2023. They tackled everything from The Ramones and The Replacements favourites to The Cure’s Just Like Heaven and Nirvana’s Drain You.
Of course, as everyone does on social media Green Day also previously reflected on their 2022 by writing: “WTF WHAT a year. Seeing you all at festivals, in between working recording our record in London & LA, doing a Hella Mega European tour playing the US East Coast, Chicago and Florida, San Francisco, shows in Brazil and Argentina. Playing Singapore to Austin Texas to Los Angeles charity show with Billy Idol, Jon Fogerty and The Who.”
