Green Day Are Donating Royalties From Oh Yeah! To Sexual Assault Charities
Any profits made from Green Day's Oh Yeah! will go to International Justice Mission and RAINN.
Following the release of Green Day's new single Oh Yeah! yesterday, the band have revealed that royalties made from the track will go to two charities, International Justice Mission and RAINN.
The reason for this move is because the song samples a Joan Jett track that was originally written by English glam-rock singer Gary Glitter, a convicted paedophile who sexually abused three young girls between 1975 and 1980, and was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for his crimes.

"BTW we sampled a song from the great Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation album," the Oakland trio posted on social media of the track. "One of the writers on that song is a total asshole so we’re donating our royalties from this song to IJM and RAINN."
International Justice Mission's work involves trying to end violence against people living in poverty or trafficked into slavery, while RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is America's biggest anti-sexual violence organisation. Be sure to stream Oh Yeah! as much as possible so these two brilliant charities can benefit.
