Deijuvhs shares Deftones-inspired single Gaunt
Deijuvhs has dropped an excellent new break-up tune, Gaunt, which is sonically inspired by Deftones and shoegaze.
Following the Limp Bizkit-esque Moonlight Bop in June, East London breakout star Deijuvhs is showing more of what he’s about with new single Gaunt.
Inspired by Deftones and shoegaze, the new track tackles the ‘feelings of loss and paranoia that linger when you go through a break-up’, and reveals another side to his artistry.
However, speaking to Kerrang! earlier in the year, Deijuvhs (which is pronounced day-you-VHS) explained that his approach to putting music together doesn’t necessarily come about through a multitude of different influences.
“I don’t listen to many different things,” he said. “I might get a melody from an old-school garage song but then I’ll add some nu-metal in there. I mix them and bind my influences. With some songs I think, ‘How the hell did that influence come from this?!’ It’s probably from some left-field shit and then I put it into my own thing.”
