Corey Taylor's Solo Album Probably Won't Sound Like Slipknot Or Stone Sour

Corey Taylor says his debut solo record will "dabble in a little bit of everything"

Last week we reported that Slipknot and Stone Sour's Corey Taylor is planning to release his debut solo album in 2021. And now The Great Big Mouth has been teasing and hinting what his first-ever solo release will sound like.

In short: everything.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, Corey says: “I’m going to dabble in a little bit of everything. It'll have everything that I'm known for and more, let's put it that way."

Referring to his shows earlier this year under the guise of Corey Taylor & Friends, he says that fans are always surprised by "the songs I pull out of my ass to play", which have previously included Poison’s Nothing But A Good Time and It’s So Easy by Guns N’ Roses.

“That’s kind of what this album will be – me writing all of the styles that maybe I haven't got to do with Slipknot and Stone Sour and just going for it," he adds. "Just rolling the dice and being, like, ‘You know what? I'm going to put my money where my mouth is and just see what happens.'"

As with his Corey Taylor & Friends touring show, he says that a number of his famous friends will also contribute to the record.

The Slipknot vocalist has also revealed that their long-awaited unreleased album (recording during the All Hope Is Gone sessions) is called Look Outside Your Window and has "much more of a Radiohead vibe."

Slipknot are currently touring the world in support of their latest album We Are Not Your Kind, which reached #1 in both the UK and the US. Catch them at a date below.
