Corey Taylor reveals his pick for "the perfect heavy metal album"

Spoiler alert: Corey Taylor thinks Metallica have made "the perfect heavy metal album"… but which one is it?

Along with about a million other artists this year (well, actually, to be completely specific, it's 53), Corey Taylor is celebrating Metallica's iconic Black Album for their huge The Metallica Blacklist project next month. And to get in the mood, the Slipknot man has been waxing lyrical about the band and their incredible discography.

While many of Metallica's full-lengths – especially The Black Album, plus the likes of Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets and …And Justice For All – are considered some of the best metal albums of all time, Corey reckons that it's their 1986 third LP that deserves that crown overall.

Master Of Puppets, says Corey, is "the perfect heavy metal album". He reasons to Knotfest (via Loudwire) that, "There's no fat. I mean, you can put it on and listen to the… The only bad thing I can say is that it's too short. Before you know it, it's over, and you're, like, 'Wait a minute,' and you've gotta start it over again. So, it's crazy. It's just a beautiful, beautiful album."

Recalling the instant appeal of hearing Metallica and those thrash era bands when he was younger, Corey enthuses, "This was this burgeoning explosion of attitude, fast music, just in your face, and we just knew as soon as our parents heard it, they hated it, which made us love it even more. Nothing is better than listening to something that scares the hell out of adults."
